It was a pleasure to contribute to this amazing initiative by #ProcB. In our paper, Angela M. Mendoza-Henao, Johana Goyes Vallejos, and I provide an overview of female calling behaviour in frogs, highlighting this largely overlooked aspect of anuran behaviour.

This Special Feature from #ProcB showcases research from scientists, countries and regions underrepresented in the scientific literature, while addressing inequities in publishing and "helicopter science". Discover the collection: buff.ly/RjnbPC7 | #Ecology #GlobalSouth

We're really happy to finally see this out in Integrative Zoology!
We investigated whether the type of breeding site influences the evolution of male weaponry, using Neotropical frogs from the subfamily Leptodactylinae as models. (1/3)

The last chapter of my PhD research is now available! We investigate the role of breeding sites in the evolution of male weapons in Neotropical frogs. Our results —somewhat counterintuitive in light of mating systems theory— shed light on the mechanisms of weapons evolution in external fertilizers.
The evolution of male weapons is associated with the type of breeding site in a clade of Neotropical frogs https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.08.15.608145v1
