Second post on my site is up: Process vs. Outcome. Two people, a hundred jump shots each, two entirely different afternoons; then Pete Muller's Process-Driven Trading and the blind analyses on DUNE and NOvA. One poker hand is noise & a thousand hands are data.

A hundred jump shots, two kinds of people, and why I read a p-value the way I play a hand.

On both of my recent projects, my contribution is technical & methodological: modelling, numerics & engineering that turns ideas into working frameworks.
The clinical expertise belongs to my collaborators. What draws me is the mathematical/physical structure of the problem, not the medicine. (2/2)

Been asked a few times lately whether I've left theoretical physics for applied sciences.
Short answer: no. In the deepest place in my heart I'm a physicist, with a strong love for mathematical formulations & for techniques like machine learning. That hasn't shifted, & I don't expect it to. (1/2)

DUNE is the most ambitious neutrino experiment ever built -
@fermilab.bsky.social to South Dakota, liquid argon, 1000+ physicists across 30+ countries.
@imperialphysics.bsky.social leads on the detector readout & data acquisition, and this year I join to search that data for new physics. Hyped!

In 2026, at @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social
I have 3 projects running:
⚛️Neutrinos - DUNE & NOvA,
🌀Quantum CFD - with US startup Singularity Quantum,
🫀Physics-informed ML for Afib.

These 3 share: Known physics, sparse data, one number that has to be right.
I hope to publish Afib ML papers this year!

Physics-informed ML is my thing: Afib mapping from sparse electrodes, which started as my MSc work at @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social & I kept it running alongside the neutrino work. Now working with US startup Singularity Quantum on taking it further: ML & Quantum Computing for cardiovascular CFD.

Feeling blessed to be involved in both of the @fermilab.bsky.social 's (American) flagship neutrino experiments, DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment) and NOvA (NuMI Off-axis v_e Appearance) as part of @imperialphysics.bsky.social from 2026 and onwards!

I'll try to update on exciting works!

First in the UK, second in the world!

We’ve retained our QS World University Ranking for the third year in a row! 🎉

This success is thanks to every single member of Imperial’s community, as we work together to make a meaningful difference in the world.

📚Members of Imperial can now access a collection of works by Nobel Prize winning physicist Prof. Abdus Salam.

The initiative provides opportunity for current staff and students to explore the work of one of the architects of modern particle physics.

Neutrinos are still the most mysterious particle we know of

Everyone overlooks the neutrino as an afterthought in our Universe.

But they're the only Standard Model particle with a shot to solve the dark matter, dark energy, and baryogenesis puzzles.

Neutrinos are still the most mysterious particle we know of
Nearly 100 years after being theorized, the strange behavior of the neutrino still mystifies us. They could be even stranger than we know.

99% of a core-collapse supernova’s energy is invisible

Despite how luminous core-collapse supernovae are, 99% of the energy they carry away is invisible: in the form of neutrinos.

Here's why that must be the case.

99% of a core-collapse supernova's energy is invisible
Despite the brilliance of these cosmic beacons, only 1% of a core-collapse supernova's energy is observable. The other 99% is in neutrinos.

Int'l Conference on Machine Learning 2026.

This week, I flew 5,500 miles from London to attend it in my hometown.
Ran into fellow Imperial folks halfway around the world - Thomas Varsavsky (Adexis) and Rose Cymbler (Talia).

I look forward to collaborating in the future!
