Hi new followers! Most of my current work as a public historian focuses on WWII, but my personal research interests center on Reconstruction and the experiences of Black soldiers in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. I post about books, current events, history, and sports from time to time.

Question for US military historians: where can I find information about where, when and how the My Lai Massacre is taught as part of US military training and instruction (1969-present)? I'm also thinking about it historically - when did the events of March 16, 1968 become an actual subject to study?

Looking for a chapter or article about enslaved women that will actually work well with baby undergrad students. Please recommend any that you've actually used - not one you think or guess might work well. Can be of any vintage, since these are students with no prior experience/knowledge

Historians! Does anyone have an article or chapter that you set as an intro to the field & methods of intellectual history/history of ideas? Looking for something short and snappy that would work for final-year undergraduates. And curious in general about how people teach int. hist. to undergrads!

What to the Colored Conventions was the Declaration of Independence?

Normally we hear Frederick Douglass on the 4th of July. This year, we are trying something new.

From now until Monday night, we are posting quotes every half hour from the Colored Conventions movement.

Mississippi Republicans quickly began pushing to eliminate Bennie Thompson's district in Mississippi after the VRA ruling.

This would leave Mississippi—where nearly 4-in-10 residents are Black—with four white-majority congressional districts.
