You can't be a rapper and be silent about political violence. Rap was born from politics. In fact, apartheid South Africa was going on at the time, so rappers always said "Free South Africa" in their music.

Ironically I was just telling my Mom this morning I loved high school, but wouldn't want to do it again. No transportation and working for $4.75/hr part-time was the dealbreaker. Class of '95.

They were letting students leave school in the middle of the day because they were living off the fumes of responsible HS generations who came before them. The idea was to treat HS kids like adults to prepare them for the world. I was a 90s HS kid and was left to suffer consequences of our actions
When I found out HS kids don’t get to leave campus for lunch anymore it made me realize that should’ve always been the rule. They were really letting us leave school in the middle of the day and acting shocked when we were coming back to campus high or freshly fucked.

Unfortunately, I am one of those 700,000 Black women who was laid off in 2025. I was laid off in January 2025 and organized the IT center at a NY startup. I can usually find a job within 3-5 applications, but despite over 100 applications, I haven't been able to find anything else since.
