looking at the State of JavaScript 2025 results and being blown away by the amount of people complaining about the JS's dynamic nature while also being entertained at the false-positive comments that they flagged as being about the type system only because it contains the word "type" or "dynamic"

Finally settled on WebStorm (@webstorm.jetbrains.com) as my new code editor. Took a bit to figure out how to hack around not being able to change the scrollbar color / opacity in the High Contrast theme (which I'm pretty sure is a bug), but beyond that, it has been a pleasure to use.

Running for President with the sole purpose of signing an executive order that forces software companies to include a means for users to access past UI versions / templates.

Any company that violated the order would be immediately seized, liquidated, and distributed to the people!

The biggest issue with using XSLT long term is that when writing out CSS selectors for targeting HTML elements, my brain will pivot to thinking in XPath syntax out of habit.

If people have gone through the trouble of programming bots to promote typescript, then it has to be good!

XSLT In The Browser Update: Looks like there is a different thread regarding updating the standard to XSLT 3.0 instead of ripping it all out and forgetting about it. I personally would love to see an update to the modern standard as opposed to abandoning the tech: github.com/whatwg/html/...
Should the web platform adopt XSLT 3.0? · Issue #11578 · whatwg/html
What is the issue with the HTML Standard? Background This is a follow-up to #11523. That issue raises concerns regarding security issues, code maintainability, and the complexity of aging browser c...

Can't have anything cool anymore. Just fucking update it ya nerds! Give us XSLT 3.0 in the browser!
Should we remove XSLT from the web platform? · Issue #11523 · whatwg/html
What is the issue with the HTML Standard? XSLT v1.0, which all browsers adhere to, was standardized in 1999. In the meantime, XSLT has evolved to v2.0 and v3.0, adding features, and growing apart f...

Nothing like randomly checking to see if an artist has made anything new, and finding an absolute banger. Wish I could have shared this when it dropped

Over the weekend I got a random PM from a redditor I had previously helped to get an error in Eloquent JavaScript fixed. They wanted to know something about Node, specifically the package nodemon, and was asking if the thing they didn’t understand was, “something everyone knows?”

TC39 should allow me to, once a year, knock a single proposal back to Stage 1

That would inspire everyone to really bring their A Game when drafting these things up and evaluating them for potential

One of the unexpected outcomes of junk generative ai images is that they have managed to produce a strange uncanny-valley sans-serif font that is uncomfortable to look at and incredibly noticeable

this also generally captures the sentiment I feel whenever I see someone who just absolutely hates 'javascript' that actually turns out to be them getting frustrated with a web api / the DOM
📝 This post started as a quoteskeet, but I ended up writing way more than I thought I would lol

Introducing: JavaScript!

An exciting and compact strict subset of TypeScript that gives developers a syntactical & competitive advantage, making production-ready code that has no compilation dependencies, is faster to write, and easier to read!

This weekend I think I finally understood why I never clicked with TypeScript. From when I first started programming to when I first really tried to learn JS was around 18 years. Even then, I spent around another year trying to apply a strict Type Safety mindset across all of the JavaScript I wrote
