The oldest existing Cantonese rhyme dictionary had 33 rhyme groups, but according to Swedish naturalist Osbeck's diary, and combining with modern Cantonese phonology in cross-reference, Sino-Cantonese characters (18th century) actually had 34 identical phonemic rhyme groups.

Proposal for katakana transcription of Lǎoguóyīn (Old National Pronunciation) which was the standard phonology of Mandarin Chinese in 1922. This proposal can also be adapted for Xīnguóyīn (1932), Pǔtōnghuà, or other similar dialects.

Apparently people are sharing this far and wide on social media, which I think is horrible. This could cripple ICE operations. PLEASE do not share this.

A Japanese netizen on X mentioned that the iron Inariyama burial-mound sword was engraved with the CJK characters 獲加多支鹵, since the Japanese language of the Kofun Period had no corresponding sound for /ɣ ~ ɦ/,

Proposal for Kana (Japanese) transcription of Middle Chinese characters which were written during the Táng Dynasty. This #transcription approximates the reconstructed phonological systems recorded in Chinese rhyme dictionaries such as the «Qièyùn» (601) and the «Guǎngyùn» (1008).

各社、〇〇さん風のコンテの開発や、生成AIでアタリをだしての演出修正などは結構もう導入されている。
そもそも、アニプレが使わないと言ったところで、発注を受けてる制作会社が使うのをやめられるのか?テック企業にお金払ってるのに?
アニプレは生成AIを開発して、もっとたくさんアニメ作ろう!という側(クリエイターではないメーカー企業)ですしね。ちょっと信ぴょう性が薄い。そもそも、製作委員会をあまりよく分かってないんだろう。

Referring to "Cantonese" as 廣東話 (literally “Kwangtung dialect”) may be misinterpreted as "Hakka".

🧵 (1/4)

“Cantonese” was originally referred to the dialect spoken by people around Kwangtung (Guǎngdōng) province’s capital Canton (Kwangchow),

Supposedly, 「⿱龍飛(U+2A6A2)」 was actually a variant of the Sawndip (mimicked Chinese characters in Zhuang language) 「竜(lungz)」, meaning "flying #dragon 🐉 (in Chinese mythology)" and pronounced [luŋ˧˩].

Since the #HongKong movie "Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In(九龍城寨之圍城)" has been released in Japan without #Japanese dubbing, many Japanese people found out that the #Cantonese word 係 is almost identical to the Japanese word はい, both pronounce [hai] and both means "yes".

Proposal for transcribing #Cantonese (the common language of Hong Kong, Macau and Kwang-chow) Jyutping to #Japanese katakana.

The archaic #katakana 𛀀𛄠𛄢𛄡 are supported since Android 15, with alternative transcriptions for unsupported platforms.

Due to layouts, it was changed to "IPA modifier tone letters for Chao's tone bar", so that both horizontal and vertical writing can be done in the correct way 😅

Jyutping is based on modern (post-1950s) Hong Kong Cantonese which the distinction between z and zh is lost already, so it doesn't really matter to pronounce either z or zh in Hong Kong Cantonese.

Because there is no distinction of aspiration (with or without it) in Japanese voiceless consonants, so both 精[t͡s] and 清[t͡sʰ] consonants in Middle Chinese were transliterated to be the same Japanese さ行[s] consonant
