After all the controversy involved with selecting the U.S. women's half marathon team for the World Athletics Road Running Championships, it was particularly satisfying to see the whole saga end on such a high note on Sunday, with Team USA earning a surprise silver medal.
Fast Women: Agnes Ngetich dominates, and a great day for Team USA in Copenhagen

Unsurprisingly, Agnes Ngetich dominates the half marathon at the World Athletics Road Running Championships. She won in 1:05:15, and took one second off of the women’s only world record.

And an incredible run for Team USA as they go 5-6-7-17. Emma Grace Hurley leads the way in a PR of 1:06:23…

I appreciated this article. Also, when I was 10-14 years old, I was a big Jennifer Sey fan, because I was obsessed with all things gymnastics. Somewhere, I have a photo of the two of us together. Of all of the things that she could have become, it's so disappointing that this is what she chose.
Former Levi's exec Jennifer Sey fanned a culture war over trans athletes in a league that has none—to the benefit of her clothing brand, XX-XY Athletics.

"I know my mom isn’t that invested" in the WNBA, her son told me. "But...I guess the vultures will circle."

Lots of truth here. The only line I don't agree with is, "Ageism is often still seen as one of the last socially acceptable forms of work discrimination." Because, unfortunately, there are still plenty of socially acceptable forms of work (and other) discrimination, especially right now.
Data Reveals An Infuriating Reason Women Over 40 Are Held Back At Work
A recent study exposes how insidious age discrimination is — and it should make you mad.

Australia's Georgia Griffith won the 5,000m at the IFAM Oordegem in Belgium, and Alicia Monson, the top U.S. finisher, took fifth in 14:50.63, her fastest time since 2023.

The 1500m heats at the USATF Outdoor Championships were NBD for the top finishers, but it was fun to see some of the athletes behind them have a big day.

Teagan Schein-Becker lowers her PR from 4:06.58 to 4:04.91.
Carlee Hansen goes 4:06.18 to 4:04.92.

I appreciate this.

I used to run a race that started with the firing of a cannon, which is one way to get your adrenaline going.

I’ve been using Facebook more than usual recently, because it’s still one of the best places to spread the word to people we actually know. But if I’m going to post this on social media, I should share it one of the places Parker approved of more. fastwomen.substack.com/p/fast-women...
