A little introduction is required: My name is Mathijs, I'm from the Netherlands.
I'm mostly here to interact with people that also love Tolkien.
I first discovered The Hobbit when I was browsing my local library and stumbled upon a book with a cool dragen on the cover... The rest is history!

My Oscar ballot for 2026. 2 caveats: I have not been able to catch Sentimental Value and have difficulty appreciating horror, so sorry Sinners... Not for me... @letterboxd.social
Everybody go watch I Swear! Robert Aramayo was my favourite performance of the year.

Saw this fun remix of LOTR and Gladiator yesterday, with some connections to King Arthur...
Included the Misty Mountains, The Black Gate, The Charge of the Rohirrim and Helm's Deep somehow...

Had to say goodbye to my cat yesterday. I spent almost 17 years with Lucky.
For the first time in my 27 years on this earth there is no cat to greet me in the morning...

“Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?”
My poster/cover art for The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers. Again, following the book as closely as possible.

@bearmccreary.bsky.social on the hurdy-gurdy was awesome!
Great concert, had an epic time. Some RoP, very unexpected but welcome inclusion of DaVinci's Demons and of course the Singularity was most impressive 🎸✊🏼
Also very much entranced by @morgansorne.bsky.social's opening act, what a voice 😲

Such sad news. The last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, John "Paddy" Hemingway, has died at the age of 105. So much owed to Paddy and his generation for the freedoms we enjoy today. RIP Paddy
