I was raped at a frat party. It’s a shockingly common experience and preventative interventions in college are way too late.
In the aftermath of the Cornell rape case, @espiers.bsky.social reflects on her own experiences with sexual assault, and how our current models of consent-based sex education may not be enough.
My Rape, the Cornell Case—and Why We Need Better Approaches to Teaching How Consent Works
I tried to process the experience of being raped by disassociating. We have to show our kids a better way

jess is right! it’s worse than ever for women in this field, and it was still pretty bad at our peak. im one of the lucky freelancers who has regular work (probably work more than i did at polygon!), and it’s still not a livable amount of pay. it’s pushing important and skilled women out.
And it’s gotten worse! Ask any woman in this industry and they’ll tell you that. Over the past few years, it has gotten so much worse. I see all these talented writers you all tokenized five years ago who have now been pushed out because you stopped caring. Stopped performing. And I’m just so angry.

That's a $96,318 fine for being raped.
"Meanwhile, Jane Doe dropped out of Cornell and was denied her request to get her tuition refunded so that she could transfer to a different college. She hence faced more severe consequences than most of the men who she alleges gang-raped her."

What It Feels Like at Cornell Right Now
As a professor at the Ivy League school, Kate Manne has known many, many victims. There’s a palpable feeling on campus, she writes, that this is big.

Not enough is said about how Trump views United States dollars as HIS own money
Trump: "Because of tariffs, we are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars of profits. It's one of the reasons I can offer, if Republicans win the House and Senate, $5,000 to every adult. We can do it and the Democrats can't, because the Democrats don't have any income."

it’s so funny that people were like “OMG a 2PM Oval Office announcement, is Trump going to end the war in Iran or invade Cuba?!?!”

and it turns out, no, he’s just going to rant about how good the economy is + how elections are rigged and then fall asleep

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today.

A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field.

Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission.

The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Four people were aboard the single-engine plane when it went down in a cornfield near Carvers School Road in East Troy at about 1:30 p.m.
