A coolant salt sat in a storage tank for 57 years. Now it will serve as the fuel salt for a research reactor. It will accelerate the reactor's development, and will provide all the salt that the reactor will need over its full lifetime.

An impressive and powerful example of responsible reuse!
On Friday, more than 2 metric tons of FLiBe—a mixture of lithium fluoride and beryllium fluoride—was delivered to the Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR), a Natura Resources MSR-1, on the Abilene Christian University campus.

Memorandums of understanding are by nature ambitious, but in this case the "expectation" of 1 billion euros of investment is particularly notable.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed for construction of a non-nuclear demonstrator Thorizon molten-salt reactor in the Dutch province of Zeeland, a nuclear demonstrator at Petten, Noord-Holland, followed by the first commercial unit in Zeeland.

This thread about China's operating thorium molten-salt reactor includes a complete news article translated into English.
GMW article is very interesting also, b/c it explicitly mentions that LF1 is not the goal, but just a 1st step towards an ENTIRE MSR INDUSTRY that they're building from the ground up.

Also USA is the rabbit in 'the tortoise & the hare'; we've only been yelling WAKE UP! for what, 15-20 years now? 😵
