What happens when a 🐠 moves to a new neighbourhood? It leaves its parasites behind! ✌️🐛

Our paper on Psalidodon bifasciatus shows how "enemy release" (having fewer parasites) suggests human-mediated introduction in a 🇧🇷 basin. doi.org/10.1017/S002...

Our latest paper in Biol Rev. Parasites are vital parts of ecosystems. Because we lack long-term data, we still don't know how human-driven environmental change is affecting their diversity. Better, sustained monitoring is needed. doi.org/10.1002/brv.... @impact-parasites.bsky.social 🧪
Long‐term trends in parasite diversity and infection levels: approaches and patterns
Parasites exist in every ecosystem, affecting nearly all organisms and playing a complex role in human societies. On the one hand, they contribute substantially to biodiversity and support ecosystem ...

Community and species-level responses to two invasive small cichlids in neotropical reservoirs - Biological Invasions
Disruptions caused by omnivorous-detritivorous invasive species can be significant and impact on key ecological services, but they are often less studied than those caused by predator species. In Neot...

Host fishes shape the taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic diversity of endoparasite communities in a Neotropical floodplain - Hydrobiologia
We evaluated whether the taxonomic (TD), functional (FD), and proxy for phylogenetic (PPD) diversity of endoparasites differ among fish species from the upper Paraná River floodplain. We compared the ...
