did my first credit feeding run of mushihimesama original mode, and ngl way less daunting than I expected it to be. I was really worried about the fast bullets especially but eschatos has taught me well and I just end up dodging most of them By Accident

I'm not a christian myself, but I reckon there's probably a decent handful of actually good christian games that have been made at this point, but they're definitely struggling to shake off the very negative stigma from how shit they were in the 80s/90s

Friendly reminder that Duolingo was initially concieved to trick people into translating articles for free, which they later used as training data for MTL algorithms. Duolingo's primary purpose has NEVER been about teaching you a language, even from the start!

No one is *forcing* anyone to do a shitload of recomps. Recomps are great, but the whole point of them isn't to just have an assembly line to pump out poor quality ones just to have them; it's a way to preserve older games, understand them better, and make them more accessible to new audiences.

Trying to think about why I find ranked modes so rough, and I think I've found the other piece of the puzzle. The reason people see ranking up as an improvement goal is that going up the ranks is presented similarly to following a graded curriculum. Getting to the next rank is "passing the exam"

I can’t speak for anyone else ofc, but I sincerely believe anyone can learn enough Japanese to enjoy popular media and if you really care that much about the nuances of the language I can’t imagine what would be more rewarding than that
