Six senators call for Trump to "immediately reverse course" on a Russian diesel plan struck with Vladimir Putin to lower high fuel prices. Thom Tillis and five colleagues warn the president breaks the law as the North Carolina Republican opposes a "financial lifeline" for the Russian leader.
Six senators call for Trump administration to ‘immediately reverse course’ on Russian diesel plan
Trump shocked lawmakers when he announced on social media Friday that he struck a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call. He said Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel to the American and global market, followed by an additional 500,000 tons in November and 1 million tons “immediately thereafter.” Russia will deliver an additional 3 million tons “within a short period of time” after that, he wrote.

Republicans face a midterm backlash from factory workers squeezed out of jobs by Trump's tariffs on imported steel, glass and electronics. Because domestic plants rely on foreign parts, the president's trade taxes drive up production costs, trigger layoffs and push voters toward Democrats.
Republicans face midterm backlash from factory workers squeezed out of jobs by Trump’s tariffs - myMotherLode.com
President Donald Trump's tariffs are turning factory workers against his Republican Party over fears the import taxes could lead to fewer jobs instead of the manufacturing renaissance he promised. Once solid Republican races are now up for grabs next month in Iowa, Michigan, Pennsylvania and other places that have lost factory jobs. Only 3 in 10 U.S. adults approve of Trump’s handling of trade negotiations, according to an AP-NORC poll from September. One longtime worker at a Michigan clockmaker that shut down in the wake of Trump's tariffs says "it was like taking a knife to the back.”
