However IF I am wrong I am gonna be sooooo fucking pissed remembering all the glib dunk posts in the trenches fighting terminators
I don't really think rogue ai is going to kill everybody in the next few decades BUT I think its reasonable that it eventually leads to biological human extinction, just based on the fact that silicon has so many obvious advantages as a substrate for thought it'll be hard to compete.

I'm pretty optimistic that ai making it easy to "just do" anything will actually raise people's standards across the board.

Did some home office cleaning and found my TI84, put some new batteries in it and discovered I still have the muscle memory in my brain for all the button layers for some reason.

Switched over to a largely liquid diet, which has helped a lot with digestion pain and getting enough calories. Its kinda weird though, you don't exactly feel full or hungry, its like an in between limbo state.

Interesting thought experiment for ai math: would access to an oracle that could tell you whether any theorem was true or false (but not how it arrived at that conclusion) be helpful for mathematics? Would that accelerate progress? Would mathematicians like to use it or would it spoil the fun?

Ill probably see the same voting for president discourse for the rest of my life but its always seemed odd to me that the fact that most people live in states where it simply doesn't matter who you vote for doesn't come up very much.

I don't know if we are that close to AI capable of wiping out humanity BUT I do find it a little concerning that the arguments I see people making about why this isn't the case mostly boil down to "that sounds silly" and many of those people are also clearly in denial about current ai abilities.
