Having a few days break in Ely (Cambridgeshire). Lovely little place. The cathedral is simply stunning.

Watched BBC documentary on Bayeux Tapestry. Technical stuff about how it has been moved and installed very interesting. But with added comment from at least two "popular historians" that I simply can't stand.

Could you imagine anyone else in the history of history, let alone the President of the United States, so blatantly defiling the memory of our fallen brethren? What a terrible, broken person.

Instead of the headline… “Reform caught taking foreign donations”, the #BBC are introducing the element of doubt and suggesting it could all have been a silly mistake after all.

See how it works yet?

Just remembered: 375th anniversary of the Battle of Worcester today. A very bloody affair. It's quite sobering to sit in the peaceful garden of the Commandery and realise what went on around you. #worcester

Current pet hate: adverts with a soundtrack of a soppy, breathy female voice, singing a slow-downed version of an old pop hit. The revolution can't come fast enough.
