A government that creates propoganda to promote the violent treatment of people as sport is not a government for people at all, but a government against all people.

You know when public attention can reverse a prosecutorial decision like this you almost get the sense that the decision to shrug it off in the first place was not based on an assessment of the quality of the evidence so much as an assessment of the seriousness of the crime.

Here's how we get Medicare for All done:

Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!)
Include vision, dental, and hearing.
Begin extending to more people, starting with children.

We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.

This land is OUR land. I grew up on public lands and I raised my daughters on public lands. They are in an incredibly important part of Idaho's spirit, and they belong to the people. So when I say not one damn acre will be sold under my watch, I mean it.

ok, i kind of think Todd Achilles is the real deal candidate-wise. i gave him some money.

i'm going to sit down and do some math and try to figure out if this is legitimately a no-hoper or if this is a longshot-big-payoff bet, but if there's a chance we may do some cooking for him on Bsky
goin’ to a Todd Achilles fundraiser, gonna see how the Sensible Centrists live

Feeling based that I got off all-things Meta on inauguration day 2.0. I was long gone from insta, but still on fb and WhatsApp. Was recently considering getting back on WhatsApp due to comms ease, but gonna hold off.

A woman was drugged, raped, and sexually trafficked to members of a fraternity.

Two of the men involved were expelled. Five were given the opportunity to mitigate suspension by *writing an essay.*

The dozens of other men who knew this was happening and said nothing? You already know the answer.

Again, it’s not just that this Tesla asshole killed a mother and her child with his recklessness.

It’s that as his victims were dying, he did nothing to help them and instead sat scrolling through his phone.

The driver’s behavior before and after the crash is sociopathic. But also, no car operated on public roads should be able to go 100 mph, much less 142 mph.

This is an EXCELLENT interview. I cannot recommend it enough.
In one of the most important convos I’ve had this year, I talked with Sherry Turkle about how our interactions with AI platforms, simulated companions, and artificial personalities can reshape us, diminish our capacities, and alter our very conceptions of ourselves and what it means to be a person.
Artificial Intimacy Is Changing Who We Are
“We start to judge our human interactions by what the chatbot can deliver,” says author Sherry Turkle.

Every bit of this. My brain is breaking.
the fact that the NTSB is conducting a federal safety investigation of the helicopter crash, but nobody is going to do anything about the original deadly car crash, really shows just how few fucks our country gives about every day traffic violence that kills 40k people every year

I don’t think people appreciate just how horrific the initial bus crash was too

a drunk driver was speeding and plowed straight into a bus, killing two people.

it’s almost a parody of how unsafe transportation is in LA, particularly in the valley where almost every street is just a mini highway
