One standout article that crossed my desk as FT opinion editor back in the day was this by David Hockney. An illuminating, thought-provoking piece (sparked by a comment in a letter) - along with illustrations. Other opeds (smoking) and pics followed. A delight to work with. How lucky we were. RIP
