Admiral Robert Blake, born in #Bridgwater in 1598, is widely regarded as the Father of the Royal Navy.

Blake’s efforts turned England's fleet into one of the world's most formidable fighting forces. In 1797, Lord Nelson wrote, “I do not reckon myself equal to Blake.”

We are pleased to announce that Stephen Bartlett will be coming to Blake Museum on Tuesday 14th July to deliver a talk on the Somerset Brickworks.

Stephen's talk will explore the #history of the brick and tile industry, a financial backbone of the #Bridgwater economy for over 200 years.

Circular Friends of Blake Museum crest rendered in a polished, gold-and-black heraldic style.
