I’ve never asked anyone if it was ok to refer to myself as a job title if I actually did that job. There was no confusion there.

I just think the death penalty is a society's way of piling all of its sins onto one person and dispensing with them along with the life of that person. We killed them, so the evil is gone. But is it? Is it really? Have we addressed the societal conditions that made those people into monsters?

It's all "ooooh we need a meritocracy" until the wrong people have merit and then it's like "oooh we need to protect us."
