Young people can't afford rent. They can't afford homes. They were promised a future while the richest among us hoard every last resource.

Gen z is rising up globally to protest inequality!

“The reaction was predictably hysterical. Interest groups such as the Fraser Institute and the shadowy Canadian Taxpayers Federation have spent decades trying to convince the public that all taxes are bad and government is inherently wasteful and useless.” #bcpoli #taxtherich

💯 agree
It's really bothering me how David Eby and the NDP's sole response to the Conservatives is to become more conservative themselves. No grand vision, no moral compass, just pandering and enshittifying. #BCPoli
So egregiously backwards & short-sighted.

Every person in this province subsidizes cars. Your municipal taxes pay for parking & roads whether you have a car or not. Your provincial taxes pay the health care costs from car-related pollution & crashes. Your federal taxes subsidize O&G companies.

wtf are we doing?! voting Green seems like the only logical option right now. #bcpoli
Fun facts:
🔥Since 2007, BC’s climate pollution has decreased by 2.3 million tonnes.
🔥Approved LNG export projects will increase BC’s climate pollution by 21.2 million tonnes by 2035.
🔥This is ten times more pollution than we’ve managed to cut in nearly 20 years.

wow.. that’s some impressively f’d up spin doctoring from Carney.. and now Eby’s taking lessons from him?? wtf? #bcpoli
Carney tells Canadians “we have to do this” (??) because there’s an energy crisis on three fronts.

One of those fronts, he says, is climate change.

Which is why we need………a new crude oil pipeline???????

The energy crisis is one in which we need to mass mobilize and switch off fossil fuels immediately or we'll push past the point of no return and boil ourselves like frogs.

This is condemning us to extinction
Carney begins his announcement of a new oil pipeline by acknowledging the climate-linked wildfire that came close to levelling the town where he's announcing the new oil pipeline. A flat circle.

NDP estimates the gas tax cut "will cost approximately $280 million through to April 2027"

Details on the gouging safeguard below

Unclear why the BC NDP government couldn't act on this any time in the past 6 years

Instead, it's a campaign promise. Remember all the 2024 campaign promises? #bcpoli

Suspending gas taxes is the easiest move for politicians to make when gas prices are high and it's also the dumbest. It does very little to alter the material conditions of constituents, but costs a shit ton of money while slightly diluting the market signal that high gas prices should send.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Canada has a lot of work to do.

In some ways, we’re actually backsliding right now -- from residential school denial to rights-busting "national building projects."

We gotta do a better job of defending and respecting Indigenous rights:
