Hawaiian, Alaska, & Southwest Airlines have made adjustments to Hawaii operations and canceled more than 50 flights across the state. All passengers should check with their carriers. At Hawaii airports you should plan on being at airport 3 hours before flight.

Hawaii Island is under a Hurricane Warning as Lala is expected to gain strength as she approaches the island. A warning is typically issued 36 hours before the anticipated first occurrence of hurricane-force winds.

As Tropical Storm Lala approaches Hawaii and folks emphasizing it may be just south of islands as it passes, don’t let your guards down! In Sept 1992, Hurricane Iniki was further south. However, with almost no warning turned and directly hit the Kauai and caused damage on Oahu.

A Hurricane Watch for Hawaii County. At 5AM center of Tropical Storm Lala is about 650 miles southeast Hawaii. Lala is expected to be near the Big Island on Saturday, and pass other islands remainder of weekend. Models suggests potential for Lala to reach category 1 hurricane strength.

One-C continues development into storm that will be named Lala. Remember, we are in Hurricane Season. Some models are forecast that Lala will come towards Hawaii this weekend at near hurricane strength, but it is TOO early to tell until formed.

Models are now predicting 90% chance that system will develop within 7 days. Still early to tell type of system. However, if it develops in the Central Pacific closer to Hawaii that could mean a shorter time to prepare. Some models show a WNW track towards Hawaii Thursday into the weekend.

Alaska Airlines announced that the aging fleet of Boeing 717’s used by Hawaiian for decades of interisland routes will be replaced by 737-800’s in 2028.

The 737’s will feature:
* 2x First Class seats, 36 Premium Class seats
* Free Wi-Fi
* More room in cargo
* Power outlets, USB charging

Our prayers & aloha are with the family and friends of 1st Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan of Ewa Beach, Hawaii. He died Saturday after Iranian ballistic & drone strikes Friday. He was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, to 32nd Army Air Missile Defense Command.

Hawai‘i DOH is reporting a sample that tested positive for clade I mpox. It was collected from a wastewater treatment facility on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. It serves as an indicator to be alert for mpox cases.
