Many UK wildflowers pack ultraviolet signals invisible to humans but screaming “nectar here!” to bees. This isn’t decoration — it’s evolutionary design, guiding pollinators straight to payoff zones.

We talk megafauna, but the real renaissance in rewilded UK land might be microscopic. DNA studies show bacterial & fungal diversity skyrockets as rewilded soil heals — a sign that habitat health often starts beneath our boots.

Turns out trees aren’t the strong, silent types. Research on the “wood wide web” shows fungi linking roots so trees can share nutrients and chemical warnings. Ancient beech helping young sapling? Very possibly. The forest is less Hunger Games, more group chat.

Visited the belfry in Bruges, very beautiful, it tells the time, has bells to wake you up, tell you the news, weather veins, basically this is a medieval smartphone 😎

After some searching, we found this carved rock in Lemmington Wood #Northumberland. The cup-and-ring markings (left) are Neolithic/early Bronze Age, so at least 3,500 years old (and maybe as old as 6,000 🤯). The runes (right) were added by an early medieval hooligan just 1,000 years or so ago.
