Fellow cis people, I'm talking to you:
This.
We do not need 'both sides.' We do not need 'balance everyone's concerns.' We do not need stupid thought experiments. All any trans person needs to hear from any cis person is 'we support you unconditionally against the people who want you dead.'
I will say one thing re that Telegraph headline:

Do you get it yet, cis people? Do you see how actively they want us to die, how actively they want us killed? Do you see that what we say is not fucking hyperbole?
feelings aside, if you are an antisemite who voted for Mamdani because you thought he was also antisemitic you are in fact stupid.
mentioning an anodyne quote from the Talmud while announcing a plan to combat hate crimes and doing NYC retail politics by sitting in a sukkah or two is not a dogwhistle or a betrayal of his campaign volunteers or anything like that

If this 👇 offended you please slap yourselves in the face, dowse with cold water, whatever, get a grip. This is perfectly crafted and if you think otherwise it's because you forgot that there are other people this relates to.

2) The monstrosity of the Oct 7 attacks is more or less completely orthogonal to the moral catastrophe of the Occupation. This cuts both ways: you don't need to sit there and defend Hamas, you don't need to pretend like the IDF hasn't visited horror upon horror upon innocent Palestinians for decades

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

it's going to be harder to find a Trump voter in 2029 America than to find someone who wasn't in the Resistance in 1945 France.
Right on target for this upcoming Xmas.

I should also add something else that I'm feeling about all this - as a trans woman who has now left the Green Party, I am struggling slightly in the way that this (bad) motion, is getting wide condemnation (including from many mainstream people who are themselves racist) and there is no/
While I’ve made my feelings about this more than clear, I’m quite upset seeing some centre left people use this an excuse to somehow suggest now Labour is some kind of moral bulwark against bigotry by comparison.
I will be resigning my membership of the Green Party, as this motion has passed unamended.

I’m absolutely heartbroken.

AND YET
There’s just this big “alienate everyone” button and it’s so easy not to press it yet
I remember when there was hot debate within DSA about this kind of thing, and even the advocates for the anti-Zionist resolutions went out of their way to claim that this wasn't what they wanted to happen.

E38 on the Monarchy would cap the Sovereign Grant at £10m, both Duchies would be abolished, and oaths of allegiance to the monarch would be scrapped. Likely to be voted on today I think

periodic reminder that Tablet did an interview with white nationalist Kevin MacDonald which could be summed up most concisely as 'we shouldn't stop this man being given money to say far right shit but it's a shame he added antisemitism to his completely valid and correct racism.'
The main funder of Tablet is the widow of Zalman Bernstein, a far-right financier who was a major funder of Israeli settlements. The whole purpose of the magazine is to turn Jewish Boomers into fascists.
Less "dubious" is the fact that the world would be a better place if we could just delete Tablet from the internet entirely and send their staff into some sort of Contraption.

We very badly need to marginalize these people and treat it the same as following Hanania or being a Tucker fan, and we equally as badly need to have a position on owners of the tech that spreads this shit (social media) bribing the pedophile president so they wouldn't be held accountable for it.
I’ve never been in denial about it but I do think today was the first day I truly realized how much antisemitism is spreading and being normalized in online far-left circles.

It’s scary and frightening and is only going to get worse if the left insists it’s not a problem.

damn all the time I thought I was thinking 'jfc these people in MA sound insufferable' I was actually thinking 'I delight in the suffering of women with post-viral conditions and laugh uproariously at their deaths,' talk about false consciousness
It’s so cute to see everyone having fun with this, you might enjoy the other story about Covid this morning, about a young mom with long covid who killed herself, possibly partially because her husband describes it as her being “obsessed” with her health and “refusing” to get out of bed. Funny, yeah?
Perfect intro to a story. You know I’m locked in.

Twelve years ago Scotland decided scexit was a bad idea and since then the SNP and Greens have hid behind procedural grievances while doing no work on how an independent Scotland would work.
Twelve years ago, people across the country took part in Scotland’s first independence referendum, inspired by hope, optimism and the belief that Scotland’s future should be in Scotland’s hands.

Today, that principal remains as important as ever.
