I feel that with the recent joys of putting a fly's conscious into the torment nexus, the short story "Lena" by qntm should be mandatory reading material for just about everyone.
It's about as poignant as it can be about mind-uploading in our *current* society and not an utopia.

It is almost time! It simultaneously feels like an ETERNITY has passed and also no time at all since we began this project. It’s been a ride and I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve managed to make with this team.

every machine is connected to the other not only by physical means, through cables and pipes, but also through non-material means thal lie outside of human perception. if one builds a node mechanism sufficient in size and fuels it right, it is possible to create a path wide enough for a human.

Smol update, I got a new apartment and moved in! Still no internet, but I can draw again. Yay.
Thinking about doing a 3x3 portrait set of Linea in my mutual's styles here to get back into it. Or maybe render some of my doodles. We'll see! Soon(?) Still gotta clear the promised 2025 backlog too 😭

Heya, the reason why I'm rather inactive right now is that I got a new job and I'm moving 300+km (Yay!) in the middle of a severe winter storm (yay?)
But also every apartment visit is 7h of driving, which is... driving me insane. Anyway, I couldnt even scrap enough time together to finish this skeb

So far Infinite Painter seems to be the way to go?
