Melbourne / Naarm
Pinned
Hello to anyone whose feed this shows up in, I decided to post on bluesky again! Hello especially to those in Melbourne / Naarm or near, if we vibe maybe we could be irl friends one day?! I used to meet so many ppl thru twitter!

🪲 I'm nb queer, on DSP, & live in the burbs solo with my tween & teen.
It makes me patient through all the tedious attention to tiny details, the relentless debugging, all the scribblings of all the workings out, bc it feels like I'm in service to what demands to be let out, & it keeps rattling the bars. (what a privilege it would be to be paid for that)
part of doing a large project is just managing your own belief that the thing you imagine can exist, will exist, that somewhere within what you're making it already is.

Did not expect weird dystopian political satire about ANT WARS in the King Arthur story I'm reading to 11yo (Sword In The Stone – TH White). But then again it was written in the late 1930s which was uhhh very febrile politically.

The warmonger supremacist/victim rhetoric is still so relevant today.

Pauline Hanson didn't like the satirical nature of the 1997 track, Backdoor Man, & sued the ABC. In 1998 the Queensland Supreme Court ruled against the ABC's appeal. This all led to the famous 1998 track, I Don't Like It, which reached 10 on ARIA. #qldpol youtu.be/8XpDQp0Yfc0

Nostalgia fest, playing Scarab of Ra! Someone made it into a phone game. I bought this on a floppy disk from a bookshop for a couple of bucks 30 years ago.

Seeing as I'm writing a maze game, I thought I would visit one of the classics. (I also have Zork on phone, good times!)

Went for a late night walk/jog round the block and spotted both types of urban possums (the smaller ringtail and larger boofhead brushtail). #Melbourne

Finally drew a stupid comic I have been making in my head over the past week after seeing one too many 'bogan moth' comments on social media lol

W-why does it need to be sped up? What's the hurry? Can't a body rot in peace these days?
A body buried in the ground can take time to decompose. This new method speeds up the process.
What is ‘human composting’ – and how does it work?

Today's notes for my project, I'm building an infinite maze adventure game within the development sandbox of Minecraft. Yes I could use Unity or whatever to create a brand new game but: 1) I'm doing it partly for my Minecraft-mad 11yo & 2) Making it an addon has a ready-made audience, like fanfic.

Public confession: I did something SUPER dumb the other week, I am 99% sure a drug gang bought the house next door for $2m and is growing or making something in there. It fucks me off the lights and fans are always on and it's empty in a housing crisis. So when cops showed up outside it and I was >

Coalition released its proposed spending cuts today should they win, promising cuts to climate and housing initiatives. Not courting the youth vote, are they? #AusPol

The Government™ has made an ad about all these protests happening around the world, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative.

Bluesky's algorithm is not respecting my "see less of this" request for US political content. I keep getting served the same users over and over with "take that!" gen AI memes. Have finally started to block them. I left this platform for ages because of the over-saturation in my life from it.

Spiderweb became part of the light show at the Melbourne Botanic Gardens earlier this year. *the actual show was an overpriced and overrated and overcrowded (and LOUD) rort but there were some nice little moments.

BIG OOPS: left out the decimal point in paying an overdue phone bill. That was my rent money... (꒪⌓꒪')

...anyway, it will take up to a week to process a refund lmaoooooo

Assiduously training the algorithm to show me less US political content, now I'm back on bluesky. I've got fatigue yall. I either know it already or it's detail I don't need to know as an Australian whose head is already being filled with all the Australian political nonsense going on.
