Here I am, ready to welcome Spring into Mordor (and to get a solar year older😌🕯️)

... And carrying a handful of safe blossoms🖤🪻
Black and white illustration by me of Adar in full body, wearing a revealing dark outfit, darker paintings on the skin of his chest and around his eyes and some flowers scattered on his long hair. He is carrying a bowl full of sage blossoms and another one on his gauntleted hand, the only coloured part of the drawing (in purple)

Happy, combative and solidary #internationalwomensday for every woman in Middle Earth and beyond who is living in patriarchy-rooted cultures🖤

A statement from my children, particularly those who might categorize themselves as Uruk women🦾

#Uruklore #fantasytofightpatriarchy #art #8march
Pic of a piece of parchment with a text written in scribbled handwriting and capital letters. The content of the text can be read as follows: "Others think “Uruk women” do not exist. Probably because for us, uruks, anatomy differences do not assign social roles; they merely play a part in reproduction, and there is nothing hierarchical about that. Raising children, caring for the elder & ill, hunting, farming, forging, building, cleaning, fighting... these are tasks for everyone and worth the same, regardless of personal gender identity. So yes, "Uruk women" exist. others just assumed they were seeing "uruk men" because of their own biases." Black and white illustration by myself, posted in my art account @lyblacktea.bsky.social as "Daughters", depicting a group of five female Uruks in different attires and positions.

After 'destroying' Sauron in Forodwaith, the Uruks travelled to the South. Many dangers left their numbers diminished, so they took shelter in a cave system inside the Misty Mountains... where they stayed for centuries.

There, Adar made sure to pass the old Uruk stories to the new generations✨🐺🔥
Colour illustration in purples, pinky oranges and some hints of blue, in horizontal A4 format. It depicts a cave interior in which appears Adar crouching down at the left of the image, a bonfire before him, extending his hands to recreate shadow-shapes in the wall of a cave before a crowd of young Uruks (from babies to teens), who are sitting before him. They seem to be very invested in the story Adar is telling, supporting it with the shadows he is projecting on the wall. Behind the crowd there is an old Uruk who wears an animal skull over her head painting the wall of the cave with red figures depicting Uruks wielding weapons and accompanied by the blue figures of wargs, under a crescent moon at the top of the painted scene. The source of light is the bonfire (in bright white) which is releasing star-shaped sparks to the ceiling, one of them placed right where the shadow of the warg-hed projected on the wall would have its eye.

Black and white illustration of five female Uruks sitting on the grass under the moon and a shooting star. One of them, wearing helmet and armour, is standing holding an urukish weapon (@WetaWorkshop's design). Next to her another one wearing armour, a quiver of arrows and adorned with branches, is sitting down with her hands linked, smiling at the spectator. Under her two others are lying down lazily, both also looking at the spectator; one of them is wearing a long sun-cloak that covers all her body and a skull on her head; the other wears armour and furs. A little apart, another one is kneeling on the grass, covered in furs and adorned with a horned animal skull. This is the only one whose eyes are closed with a serene smile.

Adar study because I needed to warm up and @raquelnekro.bsky.social 's first Adar of the year seemed perfect for the task (thanks for the inspiration🥺🖤)
Coloured sketch-study of Adar's bust in a neutral grey-brownish turning his head slightly all serious, with a expression half shocked - half angry. There are reflections of red over his face and eyes coming from the left, and reflections of blue-moonlight coming from the right and highlighting his scars.

Solstice days end tonight🌠 Make an oath for the new cicle, my children, and use it as a compass when you get lost.

No need to be too ambitious, just surviving for another year is important enough🔥
