There's more than one story published about it and this is only the latest round of it. There were previous stories about it in the Netherlands too. Linking to only one specific example doesn't mean that's the only one. There was already a whole previous round of this within the past year.

It is happening and most people can clearly see that based on the available evidence. That includes these objectively inaccurate news stories peddling transparent propaganda. We linked to multiple stories in our thread and the ones in France are quite important for understanding what's happening.

The these law enforcement agencies scapegoat GrapheneOS is because people are very familiar with iPhones and cannot be nearly as easily misled about them. Trying to portray iPhones as enabling crime and indicating someone is a criminal would be rightly seen as ridiculous but it's the same thing.

Apple and Google both try to protect users against exploits too, including those by state actors. A far larger number of criminals use iPhones than GrapheneOS phones. iPhones have similar disk encryption and exploit protections. They even added locked device auto-reboot several years after we did.

They should have contacted both us and neutral experts before publishing. Many law enforcement agencies throughout the EU have a clear agenda of pushing for backdoors in encryption, messaging apps/services and devices. Inaccurate propaganda including scapegoating GrapheneOS is part of the tactics.

They're misrepresenting non-GrapheneOS devices as being GrapheneOS as was also done in France. They're also misrepresenting how data was obtained from devices. We've been contacted by journalists in Germany about it over the past several months and know the origin of these stories are state actors.

No evidence is provided for what it is claimed. There are also a bunch of clear inaccurate claims and misrepresentations being published without skepticism in the article. We're aware of active efforts in both the Netherlands and Germany to shop around these inaccurate stories to publications.

GrapheneOS is being used as a scapegoat to push for backdoored devices. They're pretending it has a level of usage among criminals that it doesn't. They're also clearly trying to intimidate people into not using more private devices and to believe those can't actually protect their private data.

Publishing many false, misleading and unsubstantiated claims from law enforcement pushing for backdoored devices and messaging systems without skepticism or neutral experts being consulted is not journalism. A minority contacted but most didn't, and those that did mostly cut it down to near nothing.

They're pretending as if a tiny proportion of the people they arrest using GrapheneOS is a far larger number than it is, that people are criminals while largely not being convicted of anything and that a large portion of the users are criminals which is clearly untrue. They want backdoored devices.

They conflate GrapheneOS with non-GrapheneOS devices, make very false claims about it from a technical perspective, misrepresent how they've obtained data from devices to exaggerate capabilities to make encryption / exploit protections seem useless and heavily misrepresent who uses GrapheneOS.

There was a massive amount of mainstream news coverage in France on GrapheneOS propagating many outright false claims about it, misrepresentations and completely unsubstantiated claims presented as facts. Neutral experts weren't consulted and there was at best a token gesture of letting us respond.

The publications for each of the linked articles acted as propaganda outlets for law enforcement agencies. They helped to mislead people about GrapheneOS in multiple ways. Our thread links to an article from the Globe and Mail as an example of a well researched and balanced article as contrast.

These articles are severely lacking in facts and contain many inaccurate claims and misrepresentations from agents of the state presented as fact. It was not questioned, no independent experts were consulted and we weren't given an opportunity to read the claims and respond to any specifics of it.

We posted a series of articles which each credulously present inaccurate claims from the state without giving us an opportunity to read and respond to the claims. We weren't contacted at all for the article in the Netherlands and the others only gave us a vague ~1 sentence summary to respond to.

Our latest OS release includes our port of the 10th gen Pixels to Linux 6.18 LTS. It's now in Alpha for the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL and 10 Pro Fold. We've been doing public pre-Alpha testing and multiple days have passed with no more issues found.

Directing personal insults towards us because we've criticized the increasing authoritarian and anti-privacy behavior in these countries including towards GrapheneOS is appalling. Alexey Pertsev is in prison in the Netherlands for writing open source privacy software. You're denying reality.

There's a major state sponsored misinformation and smear campaign towards GrapheneOS in the Netherlands and Germany. The misinformation campaign includes unsubstantiated security claims not holding up to scrutiny to scare people away from it. They're also heavily misrepresenting who uses it overall.

The latest version of our App Store adds support for delta updates. It drastically reduces the bandwidth for package updates by only shipping the changes. It's particularly high impact for our Vanadium browser and WebView. We've used deltas for OS updates for over 10 years.

We're planning on shipping our port of 10th generation Pixels to Linux 6.18 in our next official release. We'll see how that goes with much broader testing in our Alpha and Beta channels. We'll finish the port for the earlier Pixels once that's done and then we'll get everything moved over to 6.18.
