Just to add to this excellent piece by @tressiemcphd.bsky.social, "AI as incipient godhead that can only be placated (perhaps) by the techpriests" and "AI as potentially dangerous, underregulated product with inadequate safety testing" lead you to very different policy responses.

Others find one minor footnote they can misinterpret, then claim that means all the scholarship is off base.
Sadly, the latter is so much easier than adjusting one’s viewpoint.

When pundits or politicians say "vanity projects," it sounds like he's getting a nose job or coloring his hair.
He's not just touching up DC. He's demolishing it. Beating cherished monuments and public spaces to a pulp with a kind of cruel glee. He is destroying America's heritage landscapes.

Thousands of immigrants did the hard, dirty work of clearing rubble and toxic dust and debris from Ground Zero. Many were undocumented laborers sent to work every day with no special PPE, and got cancer as a result. Now some of those same people are living in fear of ICE.

The earliest point at which Trump was documented to have been at the 9/11 site was on Sept. 13, but today he told Fox News he was there on Sept. 12 doing heroic shit & was lifted off the rubble by 2 firemen b/c a building was about to collapse. German TV showed him there on 9/13 an immaculate suit.🙄
