I was told that AI was inevitable and to just go along with it and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it.

The word “evil” gets thrown around too easily. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t sometimes present. Evil isn’t anger or outrage; it isn’t an outburst or a groundswell. It comes as blithe disregard for the wellbeing of others, as hurting the helpless. And sometimes it fucking smiles.
