@lavietidhar.bsky.social they've finally gotten Anne Carson out of the way and I think you're next in line. Just one more year to wait!

We congratulate Anne Carson, winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. Carson is a contributing editor at Granta and a regular writer for the magazine. In celebration, we have lifted the paywall on all her contributions to our pages.

Anne Carson, the new Nobel Laureate in literature, has Icelandic citizenship. We as a nation will become absolutely insufferable about now having TWO Nobel winning writers.

Just imagine all the per capita calculations we can drum up with this one!

She feels, entirely irrationally, that since I cannot code to save my life, any bolted together Frankenstein of pattern recognition and off-the-shelf Terminator targeting software would be liable to electrocute innocent passersby who are just making coffee in the morning etc etc.

... but without wishing to second-guess the thing, the chance that it will turn out to be one of 2026's very best SFF titles is slim, especially given the competition (it's been a great year for SFF I'm pleased to say). So it wouldn't entirely be honest of me.

why only 90% seem arbitrary. Prob should be 99.999%
Unless the poem has been written for performance, poets should never read their poems out loud. No, nor actors neither. 90% of all poems should exist solely between the page and the reader.

Voyager 1 is running on less memory than a single photo in your camera roll—69 KB. Its data is saved to an 8-track tape & software was developed when "the cloud" was in the sky. NASA sends commands and the old thing answers.
And yet your brand new laptop freezes because you opened too many tabs.
