You Don’t Owe Your Joy to Anyone Who Keeps Choosing Chaos
Today, I was questioned—for eating good food, experiencing joy, and buying things I’ve worked hard for. Not by a stranger.By my own mother. Why?Because I didn’t share it with my brother—the same brother who refuses to work, has been in and out of jail, got someone pregnant, smashed my car window, and continues to live with no accountability for the harm he causes.

The freelance world is shifting again. Not in a dramatic way.Not in a panic way.But in a clear direction. Recent research from Upwork shows rising demand in tech-enabled skills. Automation literacy. Analytical thinking. Security awareness. Strategic problem solving. It’s easy to look at lists like this and feel behind. But I don’t think the point is to rush.I think the point is to prepare gently. I’m not trying to master everything this year.I’m choosing to build slowly. One skill at a time. Here’s what I’m focusing on.

Every Step Is Proof

Before I started walking, I hesitated. A part of me doubted if I could really do it. But it wasn’t just me — there were people around me who made me feel small, who said I couldn’t keep it up. And just like I’ve always done, I decided to prove them wrong. If they thought I…
Every Step Is Proof
Before I started walking, I hesitated. A part of me doubted if I could really do it. But it wasn’t just me — there were people around me who made me feel small, who said I couldn’t keep it up. And just like I’ve always done, I decided to prove them wrong. If they thought I couldn’t, I would show them I could — and not only that, I would become better at it. Walking as Joy, Not a Chore What I didn’t expect was how much I’d actually love it.

On Motherhood, and Leaving It in God’s Hands
When I was younger, I told myself I never wanted kids. That decision didn’t come from indifference — it came from pain. Growing up without a father, having a mother who had to work overseas, and living through the weight of debts and struggles that made childhood feel heavier than it should have… it all left me saying a quiet prayer to God: please don’t make me pregnant. I didn’t want to pass on the same kind of hardships. But time has a way of softening edges. Years later, I find myself torn.

My Quiet Era

My “quiet era” isn’t about disappearing — it’s about setting boundaries, choosing peace over noise, and valuing silence more than validation.

My Dream City
Daily writing prompt How would you design the city of the future? View all responses When we talk about the “city of the future,” most people imagine skyscrapers that touch the clouds, cars that fly above highways, and technology so advanced it almost feels alien. But for me, the city of the future isn’t about overwhelming structures or endless neon. It’s about building something human — a place where life feels grounded, sustainable, and connected. Nature at the Center In my version of the future, the city is filled with parks — not just for people but for animals too.

Why Sabrina Marielle?
Daily writing prompt Where did your name come from? View all responses I was almost a Maricar — a simple mix of my parents’ names. But my mom objected. She wanted something else. Something that carried more meaning. And so I became Sabrina Marielle. “Sabrina” came from Sabrina the Teenage Witch — a character who lived between the ordinary and the magical. “Marielle” came from Mary, as in the Virgin Mary, a symbol of devotion and purity. At first glance, the two couldn’t be more different. But together? They created a balance I didn’t realize I’d spend my whole life embodying.

Liking Yourself First
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much energy we spend trying to be liked. The way we adjust our tone, edit our stories, or show only the parts we think others will approve of. And how freeing it feels when you realize:the most important person who needs to like you… is you. A Simpler Space This space is part of that shift for me.I’m keeping it simple, sharing what actually matters, and leaving the noise behind. I’ll still talk about the work I love as a Virtual Assistant — the systems, the flow, the behind-the-scenes of running a calm and intentional business.

The Emotion I Crave

The Emotion I Crave
What positive emotion do you feel most often? If I had to choose one positive emotion I feel most often, it would be calm. Not in a dramatic, life-is-perfect way — just a steady kind of calm that comes from knowing things are okay, or at least manageable. It’s not that I don’t feel stress or pressure. I do. But underneath all of that, there’s usually a sense that I can handle what’s in front of me. I don’t get overwhelmed easily, and even when I do, I tend to come back to a place of calm faster than most.
