She’s been a little reserved and quiet today but seems to be keeping down offerings of tube and wet food. She’s still probably pretty traumatized and tired from the vet care and doesn‘t feel great from the jaundice but there’s hope in the future. Trying to keep my head up.

This was really fun to reflect on as an attempt to bottle a feeling up in painting. It also came with the bonus of basically getting to design a kitsune with no guidelines and that was deeply fun— I like it when they’re long and noodly like old sumi-e block print depictions. Timelapse:

Managed to get @taromeow.bsky.social‘s iPad portrait done tonight despite everything— which came more as a prompt than a specific rendition. Taro asked for a depiction of a kitsune (which I could make up) dealing with yearning and social isolation because of their core self, and how cool is that?

I am officially going to be stuffing my cat with churus via vet recommendation so she stops being yellow lmao, what the fuck is this life even (I say this choked up with relief and just taking a moment to appreciate the absurdity since she's come home)

We've been told to feed her more to help break down the bilirubin and she'll have a specialty ultrasound to check her gallbladder in a couple weeks as the one possible source of this also, but otherwise ??? ... We feed her more at home and uh. It was 1300 bucks for the day, roughly. Hhhgh.

A Creature Update: The suspected diagnosis right now is a fatty liver thing from Beesly dropping off food... probably because my dad came to visit the other night and maybe she went on strike because of it. Her organs are seemingly perfect, "she's just kind of yellow."

Welp, a small upside: the ultrasound showed that all her organs apparently looked perfect and my sister has been told to increase her calories for now (which is quite funny tbh)— she’s being scheduled for a second in depth ultrasound now, from what I’ve been told.

She’s had 700 dollars’ worth of blood tests so far at the vet clinic, wherein they found she’s lost a pound (normally a good thing) and was a couple degrees cooler than expected (which is weird), and my sister is taking her now for an ultrasound. But it’s… going to get expensive.

In short, yesterday morning after seeing off our dad from an overnight visit I noticed what I could swear was a weird yellow (jaundiced) tint to the edge line of her lips. My sister didn’t see it but I couldn’t let it go, it felt wrong. Unfortunately I was correct.
