RE-ANIMATOR
A glorious symphony of gooey practical effects madcap energy and batshit performances that has aged perfectly. Just a huge amount of fun, silliness and (like the majority of my professional life) talking heads

BONE LAKE
A shocking and bold opening (crossbow through ballsack anyone?) gives way to a toothless and cliche ridden satire that’s tonally confused. Not funny enough and too restrained but some decent performances kept me watching

Tim Curry was a brilliant actor who did so much great work, but IT will always be the first movie that opened the door to the joys of horror for me. Still an all time favourite performance. RIP 💔

Late to this but it’s a really fun old school blockbuster rooted by a really brilliant Gosling (somehow managing to pull off the geeky schlub despite being the most handsome man in the world). Watched with my kids & delighted in their emotional investment in characters.

75% of this films budget came from product placement. It’s like that scene from Wayne’s World

Evening all. My #beyondfriday trailer is for Do Or Die starring Oscar nominated Pat Morita in a follow up film to Hard Ticket To Hawaii. It’s a banger and has to be a future watch along

I don’t know if the weirdness of this film is speaking to me so much more because they keep saying my name repeatedly

I’m calling this as the weirdest #beyondfriday since that one about the astrologer where the plot was dictated by an actual on-set astrologer and the cast changed entirely for the third act without explanation.

Oh no. Not that irritating knight-of-the-realm in-a-wheelchair-in-an-abandoned-barn-speaking-in-Latin-riddles trope. I’m so bored of seeing that.

A human sat down, watched this film and at a certain point in the process said “Yes that the cut. Perfect. No notes”. Think about that for a minute. The 70s really were a decade to be alive and creative.
