for anyone who knows the incredible
Oji-Cree writer & friend of the bookstore Joshua Whitehead, his father Peter passed away suddenly & his family are asking for help.

if you’re in a place to help through a donation or resharing it will mean the world to him and his family

I moved. I meticulously paired socks. After laundry, I have four unmatched socks. I give up. Is there an eldritch god of madness in charge of socks? Sockthulu?

We will be closed today because in the infinite wisdom of our landlords, they have chosen to block our front door instead of going to the back to do construction on the roof.

If you are near Aurora, Co on the 13th of this month, come see Nicole Aisling, a local author who will be doing a book signing at our shop from noon to four!

Interesting 👀👀👀
I looked up some of the LLC's they mentioned as they were trying to figure out who was buying their rare or niche books and whether it was a scam because some were expensive.

then i came across Zoom Books registering in LLC in Ohio 29 days ago on April 28.
i found a freshly opened footprint by Zoom Books in Ohio. it's the only US imprint with their name in it, if its correct.

Opened April 28, the first week of May is when that forum opened and everyone started talking about the orders but other domestic LLCs are receiving on their behalf

There's a situation unfolding in the land of online bookselling that I haven't discussed primarily because I have little information to share.

An unknown company is making multi-volume purchases, and when I say multi-, I mean some of us have been getting 500 orders a week.

For REALLY random books.

A petition to stop big name pet stores from treating exotics as decorations. Just because the animal is small doesn't mean a small environment is sufficient, along with leaving it for days in unstable environmental conditions.

I have nothing to lose so here goes: I need an investor for working capital for my shop. More than that, I need a financial dom. I am great with people and providing a safe space and just loving and taking care of people. At business savvy, I suck. Please message me if interested

Seriously though, I despair a bit tonight. How is it that hate can command such support and caring for others so little? All I want to do is care for others, and it's consistently denied because, I am learning, caring for others isn't profitable.

Anyone got a rich investor willing to go 60/40? Shed mice not included, as I do not speak mouse and cannot obtain their consent.

Scribbles and Scrabbles keep fighting in the shed. I give extra snacks so they don't. They each get equal snacks. ...I have become a mouse parent to siblings, haven't I?
