i reviewed the new reissue of elastica by elastica, re-situating it in our present era of short attention spans and brat-coded smokers’ area glamour —have a read!
'Perhaps others had a different reaction, but I was relieved to find that Elastica’s big announcement was just a reissue of their first album, rather than anything that might chip away at their amber-frozen existence.'

The problem with John Self’s post is that he reviews fiction for the Irish Times and that can have a real effect on an author’s career. So when he equates the Garvaghy Road protestors against unionist supremacy with anti-immigrant fash, that’s a real problem for authors writing about these topics.

Lost one of my heroes today. Slinger Francisco, also known as Mighty Sparrow, passed away at 91. Trinidad's most famous calypsonian, always infusing his songs with sharp political wit and humor. A friend and influence to many, including Van Dyke Parks. Here he is performing "Jean & Dinah."

ASLEF and the wider trade union movement are right to oppose this bid.

It’s time for the Scottish Government to do the same.

This would be a clear breach of the boycott policy that the Scottish Parliament voted for.

A very dear friend and antifascist comrade is facing serious charges resulting from defending migrants housed in hotels in Bristol from a far right march in 2025. He's a father, has £11k in legal fees up front, and may be facing prison time if he doesn't win. Please dobate below.

Most of mine* seem to be from around age 11, but maybe that’s just because 1991/2 was such a great time for dogshit movies??? Also by the time I was 13 I had pretensions and a copy of halliwell’s film guide 💀
Everyone has an objectively bad movie they saw at age 13 that they still love & lives in their brain in perpetuity.

Mine is Batman Forever.
