Some increased seismic activity with today's planetary peak. I discussed this planetary-lunar geometry in detail in the latest forecast video.

It's been seismically very quiet in recent days. Yesterday's convergence of lunar geometry can trigger a stronger tremor, potentially reaching magnitude 6+.

Seismic activity has been low in recent days, with a few tremors ≥ 5.6 at some lunar peaks. Mercury, the Sun and Mars are now aligning (red peak), followed by lunar peaks converging on Oct 1st. This geometry can trigger a shake in the 6 magnitude range.

Notable seismic activity at the north and south end of the #Cascadia subduction zone / Juan de Fuca plate in the last two days, peaking Mw 5.4.

As Earth is between the Sun and Neptune, next to Full Moon, the first strong tremor (M 6.6) hits, the strongest in almost 5 weeks if the estimated magnitude stays above 6.5.

Moderate shake (M 5.7) at Samoa, following today's lunar peak.

Some increased seismic activity today with the lunar (green) peak. I discussed this in the latest video. Seismic unrest may continue with the lunar peaks in the coming days.

As Earth is moving between Mercury and Saturn, lunar peaks occur today and tomorrow, followed by a convergence of planetary conjunctions on the 18th. Temporal clustering of stronger tremors may occur as a result.

Strong shake last night deep below Sumatra.
Yesterday night a M 6.5 #earthquake struck deep (~372 km) below Southern Sumatra, #Indonesia.

It has been seismically remarkably quiet for almost a week:

- last M≥6.0: Sep 3 (~7 days)
- last M≥5.5: Sep 7 (~3 days)

The Moon's conjunction with Jupiter yesterday COULD change the trend.

Second M≥6 tremor within ~14 hours against long-term average of ~3 days. Stronger tremors tend to cluster near critical planetary-lunar geometry.

#earthquake M 5.1 OFFSHORE COQUIMBO, CHILE

This tremor occurred at the south end of the #Vallenar locked patch, that has not experienced a large earthquake since 1922 (M 8.5). The last M≥8 earthquake in #Chile was in September 2015 (M 8.3) south of the Vallenar segment.

The lunar peaks on the 30th-31st triggered some increased seismic activity, reaching M 5.8. The convergence around the 3rd will likely trigger stronger tremors.

Three lunar conjunctions in a row yesterday and today may result in stronger seismic activity later today - tomorrow.
August 31, 2026 at 8:55 AM
The first stronger (M ≥ 5.5) earthquake today (M 5.8) occurred with today's lunar peak (green). The previous stronger tremor was M 6.0 at the lunar peak on the 27th-28th. Two more lunar peaks occur tomorrow as the Moon aligns with Saturn and Venus. I discussed these peaks in the latest video.
