Oh yeah, I remember when Altman mentioned that he wanted to sell intelligence as a utility. I went from being the greenest person at my job to skilling up by learning a lot of Excel. I now know how to use it more than everyone else in the office because everybody uses Claude to make bad charts.

Now that is a tangible change. It also reflects what my company is doing with AI now, with only allowing a few people who want to use it to use it, and even then it's still costing too much money....

Like the only thing it's doing efficiently in a superficial way is saving somebody an hour to build an Excel table, which is, under the surface, still so messily formulated that they need to eventually fix it anyway if they want to adjust it, making them use up the time that they saved.

It's like Starbucks really does not want my fucking business. I don't want to be recognized by anyone other than the employees I know at the business, and certainly not a corporation looking to mine money from me, and then sell other ads to me later.

I'm not going to let you know of the figures, but that figure should be obvious in terms of salaries for how much has been dumped into this stupid fucking AI bullshit.

Who knows if it'll change; our "Chief of AI" and the CFO are currently butting heads because the math ain't mathin'.
I saw the expense account this morning and, particularly for the IT team, it would be cheaper and more efficient to hire an additional person than it would be to keep using this.

I didn't know this, but they apparently tried to lower the amount of tokens people used, and people were still trying to get around it or hit their limits really early, etc etc. So, now they are going to take it away from a lot of people. Idk who or what, but so far that's happening.

My company keeps going back and forth on whether they want to do a full AI rollout for every employee of the company, but now they're only gonna give it to some people who wanna use it. Even with the limited trial run they've done, it costs us too much money even with a limited amount of people lol

Investors do seem kind of scared today about AI spending, more than previous times, and I'm wondering if it will stick. We don't know though, and there are absolutely no guarantees with this sort of shit
