Today, as my newest book is released, nearly three-fourths of the world’s people live under authoritarian rule. Many of those authoritarian rulers are pushing a conspiracy theory that tells people that their life, their job, their status, their nation is all being lost, slipping away.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick had a press event with book banner Bonnie Wallace. They listed 2,198 “filthy, dirty, pornographic” books. One book is my picture book, Goodnight Racism. They may not want kids learning about the importance of clean water for all or ending injustice and hate. But we do. ✌🏾

Almost every week, we see a liberal writer condemn “wokeism” or the “woke. . .” They are attacking a caricature, a perversion, a distortion of a historically Black concept that MAGA propagandists first distorted. These people are not serious thinkers.

If you are looking for a book with a meta-theory of American politics, I highly recommend "The Sum of Us" by Heather McGhee. Published in 2021, still relevant now.
In my last job (Washington Post Opinion section), I was asked repeatedly to write about the book "Abundance." I kept making excuses. Finally, I just bluntly stated that there are many, many books published about politics and it was strange that the entire political media was obsessed with this one.
