New publication out in @epsrjournal.bsky.social!

We know young voters vote for different parties and hold different attitudes than older citizens.

What we know less about: whether they also care differently about political issues.

Using novel experimental survey data, I show: they do! 👇

Interesting new paper in @wepsocial.bsky.social by Yoda&Atsumi showing that "the positive association between pro-redistribution and pro-immigration attitudes is weaker among earlier cohorts."

In other words: the number of left-authoritarian voters decreases across generations.
Time dilation: the temporal structure of elite–voter incongruence on redistribution and immigration
While immigration and redistribution issues have increasingly converged at the elite level in Western Europe, they remain less correlated among voters, leading to significant elite–voter incongruen...

Far right parties strategically increase the (descriptive) representation of women assuming it helps them win votes in general and, in particular, from women. Does it work?

In this short descriptive piece, I show the answer in the case of Reform UK is a clear ‘no’

Not suprising that the Linke got the most votes among younger voters in Berlin.

Yet, the size of their vote share among under-35 year-olds is stunning.

This Sunday, Die Linke could become Berlin’s strongest party for the first time.

Importantly, its success in urban centers reflects a broader sociostructural transformation: from a party rooted in the support of production workers to one drawing disproportionate support from the new middle class.

Why is Die Linke struggling in Saxony-Anhalt while gaining ground in Berlin? Since the 2010s, its base has been shifting away from its traditional East German, working-class roots towards a younger, urban electorate, with growing support among more educated new middle-class voters.
This Sunday, Die Linke could become Berlin’s strongest party for the first time.

We chair an open panel on "New Cleavage Identities" at the DVPW Convention 2027.

Questions:
Which identities are emerging as new cleavage identities?
How do they form and stabilize?
How do elites construct and mobilize them?
How do they affect vote choice?
