Teacher of math and science. Planetarium buff. Techno-nerd. Dreamer of dreams.
A specialist once said, "Sounds like you've got something complicated and I don't do complicated."

Me: "Are you gonna charge me for this?"

Bad doc: "You're taking up my time, aren't you?"
A question from Reddit that I'll answer here:
"What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

It's not much of a story but a doc told me I wasn't feeling pain when I was doubled over and absolutely was. It was just bizarre!

She was Hayao Miyazaki's "right-hand" collaborator from the '70s onward. Her name was Michiyo Yasuda -- the best color designer in animation.

Yasuda's eye for color gave Ghibli's work a totally different look. We explore her methods:

The anti-data center movement is like "I don't want to pay more money for a thing that will not benefit me at all and will actively make my life measurably worse in a bunch of ways" and the pro-data center movement is like "We want it to be illegal for you to not like us."

I've been told I'm teaching a class that the past 5 teachers who were told to teach it quit the next year. This class is an elective! How is there a class so many want to take but no one wants to teach?!?
(I don't even think I'm qualified!)

I asked Norman Rockwell's granddaughter, Daisy Rockwell, about this use of her grandfather's work. She writes: "It goes without saying that they have completely misunderstood the meaning of the painting, which is tolerance for others and peaceful coexistence."

Last night I asked my mentor if math was discovered or invented - an age old question that has been debated since the early Babylonians. He responded with, "What is history? Is that discovered or invented? You wouldn't even think to ask that question. History just exists. Math is no different."

Americans' sympathy for Palestinians is higher than Americans' sympathy for Israelis for the first time ever.

Is that because of big spending by the Palestine lobby?

Or is it possible that money isn't everything in politics, and millions of Americans form opinions based on reaction to events?
