The impact of falls in Western Australia is significant. Every 17 hours a person dies, every 15 minutes a person is admitted to a hospital and every 12 minutes a person presents to the emergency department due to falls.

Falls were the leading cause of injury hospitalisations in 2024–25, and the leading cause of injury deaths in 2023–24.

Alarmingly, over 95% of deaths from falls were among people aged 65 years and over.
