INN and BlueLena have launched the INN Level Up Mid-Level Giving Accelerator, a six-month program that helps independent newsrooms grow the donors in the middle of their files.

In August, wildfires hit Washington and Nevada, there was flooding in Illinois and a derecho tore through Indiana.

To support news organizations covering natural disasters, INN and Google News Initiative awarded 23 independent newsrooms $10,000 each in unrestricted funds.

In a public comment submitted to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Aug. 19, INN objected to the agency’s proposal to eliminate the EEO-1 report, which requires employers with more than 100 employees to file demographic data.
