Fanfic excerpt by Exalted Dawn, zine writer & mod: For the unpracticed, lies were like boots. When new, they were stiff and uncomfortable. They changed a person's gait, and gave their words an unmistakable limp. Only after they were broken in and well-used did lies soften, until eventually they could be laced on and worn without even a thought. Rook wore hers like it was a personally tailored shoe she'd been walking in for twelve years. The sheer perfection of it was like a wake-up slap. Rook spoke neither too quickly nor hesitated over it for too long. The pause of time to consider, compose, and answer was flawless. Aside from himself, of course, Calien could count on two hands the amount of Crows he knew who could tell a lie like that.

Greetings From Thedas: 2027 Contributor Preview She sends her magic out, vines over stone over dirt, smoothing the roughshod foundation upon which the Wardens have staked their claim. Never once did she imagine herself here, surrounded by shemlen walls that block the breeze. Cold grays instead of warm greens, earthy browns instead of bright reds. Vigil’s Keep is far from a clutch of aravels. Its roots reach back through soil and stone and time; beyond the Wardens and past the Howes, to the Avvar who placed stone upon brick upon faith. Grounded and permanent, as the wheels and wind and wandering of her childhood never could be. It does not suffocate, as it should.
