Just got an ad that said "AI generated performers" at the bottom. I really hate this timeline.

Oh fuck that lol. We need to bully them into keeping physical like we bullied them into not shutting down the PS3 store.
Sony announces they will stop producing physical discs for PlayStation from January 2028.

New video games will be released in digital formats only, through retailers and the PlayStation Store.

All the game events this week, I didn't expect my favourite news to come from Xbox Showcase. #Spyro

This makes me angry on so many levels. As a Dublin woman who avoided O'Connell St that week, as a queer librarian who's heard the impact on public librarians harassed by some of these men, but also we've seen in Belfast and over in Britain that arrested far right are majority domestic abusers.
Jesus Christ, this is fucking APPALLING. Sinn Fein have made their decision on the far right apparently, and it’s that they’re a great bunch of “lads”.

"To put it bluntly, an X post today receives less than 3% of the views a single tweet delivered seven years ago."
If you think it is necessary to be on Twitter to communicate your fact-based worldview, the reality is that worldview is being smothered.
After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X.

This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵 (1/5)

The best idea in this is one the Greens came up with while in government. And no mention of protecting/incentivising remote working, one of the best and quickest solutions they could do. #SpéirGhorm

Protecting remote working, incentivising companies to adopt/keep it, and a 4 day work week, are all long overdue at this stage. #SpéirGhorm

No. It should instead regulate provider and enforce existing laws around the generation of CSAM and image-based sexual abuse content.

This reads like the windfarm is being decommissioned but the actual story is they're being dismantled so better ones can be installed.

The story this week is so important, in my view.

It's about the morals of Big Tech and billionaires with riches and power beyond limit - but just far broader than that how far are government and authorities here and around the world willing to let them go.

This means that at least three ministers either don't know what the law is, including the media minister, or that they've lied publicly about it to protext X's business.
The relevant law allows for significant fines for companies, and for fines and up to 14 years in prison for directors or officers of companies that commit offences with their consent, connivance or neglect. There's no gap in the law here. X needs to be subject to criminal investigation.

App stores threatened to remove Tumblr unless it cracked down on NSFW content.

X has a feature that let's people create CSA content and this is the response it's getting?

All government accounts should suspend X activity and the app should be banned in Ireland. #SpéirGhorm
Minister for Media Patrick O'Donovan has said X is not responsible for making child sexual abuse images, but that responsibility lies with the people who use the website to make the images.

He added that technology is moving too quickly for laws to keep pace.

Road deaths are increasing. Do you think that's because pedestrians are becoming less visible or because drivers are becoming more reckless and irresponsible?
👀 Can you see me now?

The importance of visibility on our roads cannot be understated, particularly for vulnerable road users including pedestrians, cyclists, e-scooter drivers and motorcyclists.
