I have an idea on how a school could be the most oversubscribed in the country. Website homepage has

i. term dates on it for this and next academic year.
ii. telephone number

Everything else is in a menu.

NFL Fantasy League draft at 8.30pm this evening. In previous years I have conducted extensive research and had a draft strategy. I have never made the playoffs. This year I have done no research and will let destiny result in me picking a bunch of players who forget how to play pro ball.

“But Ish, will you ever wear formal shoes with a suit, again?”

Turns out the answer was yes, but to get married. Then changed back post ceremony into my more familiar Adidas Gazelles.

This has spawned many, many replies.

What hope was there of it standing by itself and who was most likely to get involved

Nil: All the lawyers
Ohhhhh. I had heard rumours this was a book about tiny shrimp-like legal professionals such as @jasonbraier.bsky.social who had been called to the bar or admitted to the roll.

Krill: All the lawyers.

Congrats all the same.

Going into the branch of a bank today. I think, I *think* the last time I did this was six Prime Ministers ago. But it could be more.

Not to go all Rory Sutherland on you, but if you put a phone number on your website, assume someone will call it. And perhaps tell them when it’s available. Easy perception management. Otherwise you risk someone disengaging because of an SLA they assume 🤷🏻‍♂️

I met Jason Donovan at a fishmongers. Had a nice chat in the queue until it was his turn. It took some time because people were being so specific about what they wanted, how they wanted it filleted and so forth. I see why the staff love him, when asked, he said:

"Any bream will do"

"Sorry that the collection point you chose to pickup your order from, refused to accept your parcel" said the man on the phone.

"You'll get a full refund and I've sent a replacement out today. I've upgraded it from Royal Mail to our courier, Evri"

Needed a name for a new series of 6-7 min internal explainer videos for the team.
Nailed it.

10 and I had board game Sunday, yesterday. First pic is ‘Hotel Tycoon’ a Monopoly-esque game from my childhood, that I bought when reissued about a decade ago. The paper buildings are flimsier than the rules. Whoever builds Uptown Towers, wins.

Moved on to our first proper game of Monopoly.

Watched the Mourinho Netflix documentary this weekend. I'll readily admit that I have always been a fan. I'm fascinated by his focus and determination.

It was also a reminder that we don't always remember the whole story. "The Special One" was a response to a question

I’m a big fan of this photo of Madonna looking like a visiting lecturer who will absolutely not give you an extension on your modernist poetry essay just because you chipped your tooth on a Snickers bar.

I remember watching the eclipse in 1999, standing outside the shop I was working in as a Saturday job. The Marylebone Road was packed with people.

Now in 2026, I'm wondering if I can see it on catch-up because live events are often at inconvenient times

Seems that my local Evri driver has decided their job is not delivering parcels to people, but instead an elaborate game of knockdown ginger where they press my buzzer and then leave parcels outside a gate where they can easily be stolen.

One of my favourite ways to eat steak. Fry a thick steak in a stainless steel pan (this was a rib eye) ideally dry brined to give it a good crust. As it rests, let the pan cool for two mins.

Discard the oil in the pan and add extra virgin olive oil, garlic cloves, lemon rind,

I have seen this image twelvty hundred times in the last 24 hours. I realise it’s subjective and they are created to bait engagement, but I’ve eaten at a lot of great places and The French Laundry is the easily at the top. Moreover, I haven’t yet met anyone else who has been and thinks otherwise.
