If you want to know what parenting is like (for me at least) things got so tough yesterday that after failing to get my 2yr old to eat his pasta in a pub (meal with family), I had to walk out & have a cry in the car park. Sharing because no one talks about this stuff - especially not dads.

I can't put my finger exactly on it but Opus 5 and the new GPT 5.6 are just...too smart? Constantly giving dreadful verbose, unclear output and actually far far worse at generating anything useful.

If code was never the hard part, software wouldn’t be so goddamn buggy and broken.

- runner.test.ts: ~9.3s cumulative → ~0.15s.
- All reported test durations: ~27.9s → ~8.3s.

A colleague asked me if a change I sent for review was "you, or AI" and I was very happy because whilst I used AI to help me debug, plan and impl, I worked hard to make sure I understood the change deeply and got it authored exactly how I want (via prompt + manual tweaks). This is the goal, folks.

All these products that let you run a fleet of AI agents and do 100 things at once are baffling to me; do we actually want this?! I know I can't do more than 1-2 things (with one primary focus) before the quality drops and my head can't keep up and think properly about the problem and solution.
