i have this bad habit of taking breaks from long fics with other fics that then become longer than anticipated. on a totally unrelated note, happy wip wednesday from the latest guys i've been cookin up
“Don’t be,” he scoffs, shaking his head. “She’s much happier now, I think. It was very much for the best.” He hesitates again, eyeing Ed with his own glimmer of—something. Something like hope, something like vulnerability. “As, um… as you might… imagine.” It’s the wrong thing to say, maybe. Ed’s guard flies back up as the lines in his forehead crease again. “And why would I imagine?” And standing here, just the two of them, alone in the pool house again after all these years, Stede wonders how on earth he could do anything but imagine. “Well, I—” Stede frowns a little desperately. “I just mean—” “I don’t know you, mate.” The words slice deeper than any others yet. Stede physically winces as they hit, pressing his eyes shut against the glare Ed has suddenly sunk into. “Ed, I—” “I don’t know shit. I don’t know anything about you except what I’ve heard through the grapevine. Because I haven’t heard from you in twenty-five years, Stede.” There it is. Knife between his ribs, directly into his heart. No less than he deserves, no worse than he’s always expected. A knife nonetheless. “I… I know,” he breathes, ashamed. He opens his eyes to find Ed looking away, visibly restless on his feet. He hasn’t left. He’s still here. Stede owes it to him, at the very least, to keep talking while he has the chance. “But,” he goes on, soft and careful, “I’d wager that even after all that time, you… still know me better than anyone else. Certainly anyone here.” At that, Ed’s gaze returns to his face. For a long beat, it lingers there, wordless and searching. Finally, it darts away again as Ed sighs, reaching up to scrub a hand over his face. “Look, I—I shouldn’t have come here, I’ll—” “Why did you?” Stede asks quickly, daring to take a step in his direction again. He swallows as it pauses Ed’s words, the tiniest shimmer of hope slipping through him. “Why did you come here, Ed?”

I think my dream media empire is just a million movies & tv shows where ed interacts with the characters of every other story out there. I just want the character of all time to be in a million interesting relationships. He’s perfect in ofmd, but I do just believe he would be perfect in most things.

This is outrageous in a few ways - firstly, the fire circle is far too small for him to safely get through it, even if crawling seductively, ignoring that this type of trick would normally have a tiger jump through the hoop. It is also outrageous because the practise of having any animal but especially a big cat jump through fire hoops in circuses is cruel, and while Ed Teach loves cutting off the occasional toe, he would never force a big cat or any animal to jump through a ring of fire (but he might encourage a crew member to give it a go). Lastly, less outrageous but still an OSHA violation, having long loose hair and fluffy elements of a costume near flame is asking for trouble. The only kind of trouble Ed is looking for is some sexy lion-tamer role play action with his husband, after the appropriate level of world building impov and acknowledgement of the above moral and practical quandaries. The whole pose is contrasted with a blue background because blue compliments orange beautifully and this is, ultimately, a digital illustration in the style of a campy pin up girl.
