Big big Mapping Prejudice data update today: We have updated our Washington DC racial covenants data to include 20,000+ covenants that were previously identified by our collaborators at Mapping Segregation DC. The combined DC dataset is now at 27,600 covenanted parcels (and counting!).

One of my favorite maps from The Twin Cities in 50 Maps! Love the look of this one. @jakesteinberg.com found a creative way to display how visible the Cathedral of St. Paul is from different spots in the city. Such a cool way to visualize those sight lines!

The fires in the Boundary Waters and Canada are dumping smoke all over the Great Lakes and Minnesota this week. The AQI in Duluth this afternoon is over 500. My latest for the Strib.

for as much as social media is sold to reporters as being a necessary tool for reporting, i learned that it's really not. literally just making one five minute phone call to a real person, or going to some random event of no news value, is infinitely more productive than reading posts

This fun shot is the exact site of "Silver Cascade", a fantastic waterfall where Tuttle's Creek once entered the river from @dinkytown.bsky.social. In 1883 the falls were cut off from their source by the railroad, then the whole creek was buried in 1899. Water still wants to go here though!
