honestly i don't think the problem is "creators", i have never worked with anyone in games who did not also take inspiration from elsewhere, the problem is the people with money and who view games as a tech product
A very real problem we're having now is that the medium is no longer new, the new creators are inspired by other video games instead of other art.
Miyamoto made Pikmin because he liked being in the garden, but every ONL game is being made because open worlds are cool and UE5 has nice visuals

As a games journalist, I try to avoid saying “this game looks like this game plus this game” because it feels dismissive and kind of mean but holy shit I need some studios to start making games that don’t look like “this game plus this game”

I honestly think Astrobot is super helping my kiddo learn how to deal with failure and rejection in a very positive and safe environment. I used to have to help soothe him a bit after a lot of failures (and throwing of controller) and now he’s just, handling it or asking for help mostly calmly

I feel like I am lucky to have plenty of friends I enjoy spending time with in person, mostly new adult friends even (no Seattle Freeze for me!) but they are all not-dudes because the not-dudes are the only ones who seem to make any effort to hang
