Yo guys, I decided to come to Bluesky! As a housewarming gift, I'll write your name in Japanese.

The only thing you need to do is to write the name you want and in case the pronuciation is not clear, please also give me hints on how to pronounce it.
The reason: in Japanese,

(art itsR4bb1t)
Now add another layer of difficulty (or actually remove some skin and muscle layers) and learn the bones in Japanese :D (maybe for another time)
Here's the video explaining the words/kanji for fingers in Japanese

Which ones did you know?

I personally love kusuri-yubi (because I also love the anime kusuriya no hitorigoto - The Apothecary Diaries)

Hey guys, I am very sorry to inform you that due to increased costs for the hosting of my podcast "Japanese with Skele" I had to delete it.

I encourage you to listen to the podcast "Japanese with Manu" instead - I am pretty sure you will get similar vibes there!

皆(みな)さん、お元気(げんき)ですか。

Soon, it's Tanabata in Japan - the starfestival. I'd love to a little reading lesson with you (for free). We'd read a short story that introduces you to the background of this traditional festival. First, we'd go through the necessary vocabulary and then we'd read the story.

Also, happy pride month everyone! As in any part of the world, it's not that easy in Japan either when you are part of LGBTQIA+

I dedicated a section of the book to LGBT rights in Japan (information as of 2024)

But that's not the only thing that makes this book queer.

Papyrus to Sans after learning about Japanese aesthetics:

BROTHER, YOUR FACE ISN'T SMALL, BUT DON'T WORRY, THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE THAT LIKE YOUR BIG MOCHI FACE

Sans: uh, thank you, paps.
Your face is small! 顔が小さいですね。 kao ga chiisai desu ne.

顔 kao - face (right part 頁means head)
小さい chiisai - small (looks like a small 人 person with their arms close to their body)

That's what people here in Japan keep telling me after I got my hair cut some time ago.

At first, I was like ??? wth?

Papyrus would definitely want to try all Showa style food. The fizzy cream soda (which is also green), the Napolitan pasta (it's pasta, after all) and the retro pudding called purin ara moodo.

Sans would go for Napolitan, because the sauce is ketchup based.

Papyrus: SANS, LOOK! EVEN THE SAMURAI IN JAPAN KNEW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO TIDY UP YOUR ROOM! LOOK AT THEIR WEAPON!

Sans: you mean the impressive bow?

P: THE DUSTER, OF COURSE!

S: yeah, I can see them sweeping their enemies off their feet.

Sans is now quite scared of samurai, because they

The little scribble in between the two faces looks like Gaster.
ガスターっぽくない?
Gasutaa ppokunai (doesn't it look like Gaster?)
Though the Japanese usually call him 博士 hakase, professor/doctor
I also made a short video where I explained the drawings in Japanese. Please also take a look at the ALT text from the pictures above for some additional kanji.

Soooo... who of you played Undertale in Japanese? You know they used kana only, so can use it to at least practice your hiragana and katakana!

In the past, I was thinking of streaming me playing it in Japanese and also teaching you some grammar and vocabulary.

Papyrus: SANS DO YOU REMEMBER? IT WAS SUCH GREAT FUN! IT'S LIKE ONE OF MY PUZZLES. ESPECIALLY WITH THOSE CHARACTERS THAT LOOK SO MUCH ALIKE! I SPENT HOURS LOOKING AT THEM, WONDERING WHAT KIND OF PERSON EACH KANA WAS IF THE WERE PEOPLE.

THE JAPANESE MUST HAVE BEEN A LAZY PEOPLE.

THAT'S YOU
Do you remember how you felt when you wrote your first hiragana and katakana? Also, when you realized that you could read your first Japanese words?

Tell me!

I'll start in the first reply :)

Papyrus spends hours in the kitchen to make the gyoza skin and filling from scratch.

Paps: I SHALL PRESENT YOU WITH MY HOMEMADE GYOZA, SANS! SAY ITADAKIMASU BEFORE EATING, PLEASE!

Sans: sure paps! itadakimasu!

Today's breakfast. Doesn't look that fancy, but I love gyoza 餃子 they are originally from China, but the Japanese ones have a thinner wrapping.

It's also worth looking at the kanji!

Sans: i wonder if they have blue ketchup

Papyrus: Don’t you dare try blue ketchup, brother! Red is already difficult to remove from your laundry. Blue is even worse!

(Was too lazy to use Papscaps this time)
Do you know Lake Biwa 琵琶湖(びわこ biwa-ko in Shiga prefecture?

Biwa is a Japanese pear-shaped lute. The lake looks like one.

Biwako is famous for its blue, and so are the souvenirs you can get there.

I wonder if mochi can get stuck in a skeleton monster’s throat. If yes, how easy it would be to remove the stuck mochi with a vacuum cleaner.
Dangerous Japanese New Year!

No need to worry about me, I'm still alive (even after eating the mochi in the picture) :D More to come starting tomorrow - I've made a bunch of short videos about the Japanese New Year's meal and the Hatsumoude (first shrine visit of the new year).
